I am beyond excited to write this post for Go RVing Canada. I AM ALL-CAPS EXCITED. Got it? Good.

Of all the amazing things I've been asked to write about at YummyMummyClub, this is the absolute best. Why? Because it's all about RVing, a lifestyle we've been living and loving for eight years now. I even got a little misty putting this post together for Go RVing. Not in the words so much, but in the slideshow you'll see below.

Here's our Go RVing Fairy Tale

Many years ago when I first met my husband he had a pop-up tent trailer. I crinkled my nose and said no. I'm a Glamper, not a Camper. What can I say? He married me anyway.

We talked about buying a cottage but because we're both wanderers at heart we couldn't imagine spending every holiday at the exact same place, year after year after year. Plus, neither of us had any interest in another place to clean, more property taxes, or another lawn to mow. How is that fun exactly? In the end my husband sold the pop-up trailer and came home one day with a Fifth Wheel. Despite my initial reservations, I was hooked after our first trip.

We slept in a queen-size bed, I was able to have a hot shower, cook a gourmet meal, keep my sangria chilled, put my baby to sleep in an actual crib, and I had somewhere to plug in my hair dryer. My husband? Well he had the great outdoors, well, right outside the door. Everyone was happy. After a few years of traveling with the Fifth Wheel and three girls though, my husband realized he wasn't going to get very far with the amount of washroom breaks we were taking. We upgraded to a Class A Motorhome and have never looked back.

So what is it exactly about RVing that has us so addicted? Maybe it's the fact that you never feel you're away from home in an RV. You have all of your stuff—at least the important stuff—with you. Plus, as an added bonus the maximum weight you can carry-on is HUGE. This is a major plus for me since I'm an admitted over-packer. At the end of a long day exploring, there is nothing better than climbing into YOUR extremely comfortable bed, underneath YOUR sheets and drifting away on YOUR comfortable pillow. It's hard to get homesick when home comes along with you.

Maybe it's the ability to stop whereever your heart desires as you travel. See something that interests you? Pull over and stay awhile.

Maybe it's that we're able to share our joy of travel with family and friends by bringing them along for the ride with us. Maybe it's the amazing people we've met along the way. I can't count how many young families we've broken bread with and swapped travel stories with across a picnic table. 

Maybe it's the amazing places we've been able to see — New York City, 1000 Islands,  Disney, Niagara Falls, Savannah, Upstate New York, Jekyll Island, Vermont, Prince Edward County, New Hampshire, Pennsylvania, Granby and Key West. It could be the allure of places not yet visited — The Grand Canyon, The Cabot Trail, The Canadian Rockies, The Yukon, Yosemite National Park, Prince Edward Island and California. It doesn't matter where you want to go, there is an RV Park waiting that is perfect for your family. 

In the end, though, the ultimate draw of RVing for us is the ability to unschedule and spend quality time with family. We've spent as many as eight weeks traveling together in our RV and as little as two days. The basics never change. For however long we're RVing, all schedules are left at our first home. As soon as we step into our motorhome we are living footloose and fancy free on the road. Born to Be Wild baby. Okay, okay, I know I can't pull the Easy Rider vibe off.

See why I got misty? *wipes eyes* My girls have grown up RVing. It's been the one thing we do together that we all love equally. We haven't been everywhere man, but we definitely plan to be.
