SAG Awards Win: Michelle Williams in Valentino

Michelle is a winner in my books!

SAG Awards Win: Michelle Williams in Valentino

Michelle Williams showed up at the 2006 Oscars in that stunning yellow Vera Wang dress and I remember thinking—for the first time—that she was no longer just that girl who looks like a duck from Dawson's Creek. With Heath Ledger on her arm and red on her lips, she had arrived.

She was red-carpet ready.

And then, well, Michelle Williams continued to prove herself to me as an actress (Brokeback Mountain. Blue Valentine. My Week With Marilyn.) but her red carpet choices put her on my worst-dressed lists after almost every single awards show.

Remember this?

And this?

And—most recently—this?

But last night, you guys.

Last night!

Last night, at the 2012 SAG Awards, Michelle Williams won me back, with a stunning red Valentino dress that I wanted to make out with.

She may not win an Oscar on February 26th, but she most certainly has a chance to do something she hasn't done since 2006—make my best-dressed list, which, obviously, is totally better than a little old statue, right?

2012 Oscar Nominations: The Full List

Hey Girl, Guess Who is Not on it

2012 Oscar Nominations: The Full List

It seems that Ryan Gosling tends to get overlooked. He's like the Susan Lucci of the entertainment world, only, you know, a heck of a lot better looking. First, he got robbed of the much-deserved People Magazine's Sexiest Man Alive title, because, um, Bradley Cooper speaks French? (Robbed, I tell you.) And now, Oscar himself has thrown nary a nod in the direction of the lovely Canadian who can do the lift from Dirty Dancing. It's like he's still getting punished for Breaker High. Newsflash, people, it was the '90s. Who didn't make bad decisions in the '90s?

Sure, The Gosling got his start on the Mickey Mouse Club, but his turns in Half Nelson (in 2006) and Lars and the Real Girl (in 2007) showed his fans that he was much more than the pretty face from The Notebook. He can do far more than just wear a sweater and a beard, you guys. And perhaps if you haven't been a devoted follower since his early days, you may have seen him in Blue Valentine or Drive or Crazy, Stupid, Love or The Ides of March. proving to the entire world that he is so much more than that dude from the Hey Girl internet meme

Shenanigans, I say.

And to make matters even more ridiculous, look at what I found on the home page of Oscar.com rightthisveryminute

Yes, folks. That would be the very mug of Sir Ryan Gosling.

The guy who DIDN'T get nominated this morning.

So, as I typically do on Oscar nomination day, at 8:38am, I sat down with my coffee in hand to see who I would be seeing at this year's awards show. There are always some surprises (Melissa McCarthy! Amazing! Jonah Hill! Interesting) and some non-surprises (The Artist), but I've got to say, I was pretty annoyed and disgruntled about the Gosling ommission. Maybe it's because he was so much better than George Clooney in The Idea of March, and this being George Clooney's year and all...they didn't want to take anything away from that. Hmmm. Interesting. Shenanigans, I say. Again.

Well, here's the full list of who you WILL see walk the red carpet on February 26th as Billy Crystal hosts the show for the ninth time. I'm assuming you won't see Ryan Gosling. (Hey Girl, let's watch the Oscars in our pajamas and eat cookie dough and frozen yogurt...)

A Fictional Nine

The Fictional Characters I, um, Want

A Fictional Nine

Last night I dreamed of Trip Fontaine. Again. I have this dream often. There was one time the two of us actually held up a Target to steal diapers and yu-gi-oh cards, and coconut m&ms. Seriously. I can't even make this stuff up, you guys. But yes, Trip Fontaine is always there, always calling me a STONE FOX, and then I swoon. It’s funny, you know, dreaming about a fictional character…because, you know, the dude who plays him—Josh Hartnett—is not all the interesting to me at all, but slap on a leisure suit and some '70s style sunglasses and weird hair and ohmydamn. YES.

So, of course, then you have to wonder.

Who are the fictional characters you want to, um, you know, you know.

1. Don Draper. Mad Men. The Playboy. (see also...Roger Sterling. The Older Man)

2. Jake Ryan. Sixteen Candles. The Ideal.

3. Tim Riggins. Friday Night Lights. The Bad Boy.

4. Tripp Fontaine. The Virgin Suicides. The Mystery.

5. Ben Covington. Felicity. The One You'd Follow to NYC.

6. JORDAN CATALANO. My-So-Called-Life. The Crush.

7. Stringer Bell. The Wire. The Dangerous One. (*SWOON*)

8. Ryan Atwood. The OC. The Bad Boy Turned Good Boy.

9. Noah Calhoun. The Notebook. The One You Want to Kiss In the Rain

Who are yours?
