Bangs: New Style for Spring

Tired of getting the same haircut every single time you visit your salon? Looking for a quick and gorgeous way to update your look for spring? Want to shave about five years off of your face? Take a page from the FLOTUS and ALIMARTELL style books: Get bangs!

First the First Lady did it.

And then I did it.

I know it seems intimidating at first...but here's the most wonderful thing about your hair. It grows back. I tossed the idea of bangs around for ages before finally taking the plunge a few months ago. In the end, I figured that if I absolutely hated them, I could begin growing them out before I even left the salon. I could invest a few months in bobby pins and headband.

But you know what happened?

I feel head-over-heels in love with them.

Also, now no one will ever know how badly I need Botox. Or how badly I need my eyebrows waxed.

If you are going to do it, I highly recommend going one of two ways.

Blunt and Beautiful

Like Taylor Swift and Zooey Deschanel, the blunt bang looks best on oval and square face shapes.

Styling tip: Steer clear of round brushes! You don't want to look like you are on Toddlers and Tiaras. Blow dry straight using a flat paddle brush.

Sideswept and Sexy

Like Emma Stone and Reese Witherspoon, sideswept bangs look great on more oblong and round faces.

Styling tip: Using a round brush, blow dry in the opposite direction you will wear them and then flip them to the proper side. This gives them the perfect amount of body—sideswept bangs shouldn't be dull and flat.
