Toronto Blue Jays Have Peanut/Nut-Reduced Zone

Take me out to the ballgame!

Blue Jays Peanut/Nut Reduced Zone

Mississauga mom Debbie Bruce has fought hard to convince the Toronto Blue Jays to help make their seating a little safer for those suffering with life-threatening peanut/nut allergies. Her son, John, said, "As someone who constantly has friends wanting to make a group outing out of a Blue Jays game, it often puts me in a position where I don't go in fear of having to inconvenience the group with my allergies. By creating this safe environment for me, it eliminates the worry and allows me to enjoy the game properly with my friends and family." Now, for the third season in a row, the Toronto Blue Jays will be providing fans with a Peanut/Nut-Reduced Section for a limited number of games. This is great news for fans who haven't been able to attend in the past because of the risk of exposure.

From the Jays website:

"The Toronto Blue Jays™ are pleased to continue offering a peanut/nut-reduced seating area at certain games in 2014. On six different game dates during the 2014 season, we will be offering a limited number of seats in a designated peanut/nut-reduced seating area at Rogers Centre™ (the "Peanut/Nut-Reduced Zone").

Peanuts and nuts will not be allowed in a reserved area for these six games. Tickets for seating in the Peanut/Nut-Reduced Zone are reserved for individuals with peanut and nut allergies and their families only. The Toronto Blue Jays reserve the right to request a doctor's note.

All persons who will be seated in the Peanut/Nut-Reduced Zone will be required to sign a waiver before entering Rogers Centre (persons under the age of eighteen must have the waiver signed by their parent or other legal guardian)."

Tickets are available online.

Dates are as follows:

Sun. April 27 Red Sox R.A. (Dickey Bobblehead)
Sun. May 25 Athletics (Replica Jersey Giveaway)
Sun. June 29 White Sox (Blue Jay Visor Giveaway)
Sun. July 20 Rangers (Tumbler Giveaway)
Sun. Aug. 24 Rays (Bobblehead TBA)
Sun. Sept. 14 Rays

We think it would be an even more amazing gesture to have a permanent section dedicated to being peanut- and nut-free, but this is a good start, right? We need to show them how much this kind of section is needed, so buy those tickets, bring your friends, and support this great cause. The Jays are the only team in MLB who do this for fans, how amazing is that?

If you attend one of the games in their special section, be sure to post all about it on this Facebook fan page dedicated to encouraging the Jays to continue this great initiative.
