Life-Saving Info for Pre-Teens, Teens, and Adults?

There's an App for That!

by: Alex Thom

Big news!

A 19-year-old New Brunswick teenager has developed a cool new app that puts life-saving information in the hands of severely allergic youth and adults. Working in conjunction with Anaphylaxis Canada, UNB student-developer Nick Pothier says, "I believe this app will be very effective for educating teens about allergies since more and more are owning cell phones and tablets which go everywhere with them." Pothier knows what life's like for severely allergic youth, having had life-threatening allergies his whole life.

Why Risk It? provides helpful information about allergies such as common causes, signs and symptoms, and treatments, in addition to including the Why Risk It? blog which features stories, articles and tips written by teens and young adults with food allergies.

Kyle Dine of Anaphylaxis Canada says, "This is truly an app made by allergic youth, for allergic youth."

The app is currently available for Android platforms only, and you can read more about it HERE.
