100 Years Of Fashion In 100 Seconds

Also: Awesome Dancing

100 Years Of Fashion In 100 Seconds

Have you ever wanted to see what 100 years of fashion looks like in 100 seconds? No? Well, now you can anyway! This video has been around for a little while, but it's awesome and I'm a sucker for a good dance video (procrastination is a skill, you guys).

I find the evolution of fashion (and dance, for that matter . . . have you seen that video? Never gets old!) absolutely fascinating. When you look back at the styles 20, 40, or 60 years ago, it's pretty remarkable the way our perception of beauty and style has changed, how some things stay the same, and how grateful we are that some things are gone for good (can you say stirrup pants?).

What Beauty Looks Like In 25 Countries

Much as I love me my skinny jeans, I'd love to rock the styles of the 1930s and 40sthe glamour! *Swoon*

Would you like to go to another fashion era, or are you partial to the current fashion trends?

Rock Pantone's 2014 Colour Of The Year

Look Radiant In Orchid

Rock Pantone's 2014 Colour Of The Year

I know I don’t need to tell you, but Pantone announced Radiant Orchid as the colour for 2014, and it’s popping up everywhere!

I am thrilled because Radiant Orchid encompasses so many shades of pinks and purples, and in spite of having a stupid amount of stuff in my closet, I actually have very few pink and purple items. I take this as an excuse to go shopping.

I’m a huge fan of this year’s pick after the Emerald-craze last year (which is so not my colour), so I’ve rounded up a few of my faves! I want them allespecially those Chucks and the Pantone Universe nail polishesnot that I *need* more shoes or nail polish.

1. Converse sneakers, $54.99, SoftMoc

2. Pantone Universe cosmetics for Sephora (Check stores or website for individual prices)

3. Banana Republic Wild Orchid skirt, $98 CAD

4. Jessica Simpson Kiss Me Jegging, $45 CAD, Buckle.com (or The Bay stores!)I know they’re a little on the dark side, but they’re gorgeous all the same.

5. Delray Beach Dress, $110, Modcloth.com

Don’t you just love the bright, gorgeousness of it all? Whether Radiant Orchid or otherwise, incorporating some colour into your wardrobe is a great way to spice it up and beat the wintry blues. Check out some small items that are sure to have a big impact on your look here!

Will you be wearing Radiant Orchid this year, or do you have your colours and stick to 'em?

Workout Gear So Cute, You'll Want to Hit The Gym

Look Fabulous While Getting Fit

Workout Gear So Cute, You'll Want to Hit The Gym

You are eighty-six per cent more likely to work out when you feel pretty in your workout gear.

OK, so I totally made that figure up but like pretty much everything else, sumo squats and downward dogs are way more awesome when you look cute and feel great. I know my workouts do my body good, but I like to feel pretty while I’m at it. I even bought a pretty yoga mat because I have a problem and pretty things make me feel happy.

If you’re like me, you often have to make a handful of stops between your Zumba workout or yoga class and actually getting home again. Whether you're grocery shopping or grabbing coffee with the girls post-workout, there is just no need for frumpy sweats outside of your living room’s Netflix marathon. NONE.  I have a “no sweats in public” rule for myself, but the reality is that I often don’t have time (read: energy) to spend changing clothes at the gym so I try to choose cute workout gear that is still comfortable, supportive and moisture-wicking and doesn’t make me look like a slob (juuuuuuust in case I run into Mr. He May Just Be The One).

Finding workout gear that works for my needs and my budget can be a challenge all its own, but I love the Active by Old Navy line for great prices and cute styles. How fun are the bright colours and cute cuts? Gah! It makes me want to put on my workout gear and move!

I can’t help you reach your fitness goals, but these pieces are sure to make you feel gorgeous while you’re grimacing your way through that last set of pushups!

1. Women’s Active by Old Navy Compression Tank - $21.94, online and in-stores

2. GapFit Reversible Headband  - $9.95, online and in-stores

3. GapFit Brushed Running Hoodie - $38.99 (reg. $49.99), online and in-stores

4. Women’s Active by Old Navy Compression Capri - $24.94, online and in-stores

6. GapFit GFast Heathered Leggings - $59.95, online, and in-stores

7. Fitness Basics Cherry Blossom Yoga Mat - $22.05, Amazon.com

And I'm (fairly) confident that the Leggings Police won't arrest you for wearing workout leggings that cute in public. If it happens, I'll bail you out.
