Baby Induced Early to Meet Dying Sister

Prematurity Can Cause Complications

Baby Induced Early to Meet Dying Sister

It may sound like the plot of a Jodi Picoult novel, but a British woman induced her labour so that her terminally ill younger daughter could meet her new sister.

Just as her parents discovered they were expecting a baby, ten-year-old Katy Holmes was diagnosed with a fatal brain tumour. The cancer was so aggressive, and Katy's condition deteriorated so quickly that her parents ultimately decided to deliver baby Scarlet three weeks early.

“The realization that I was pregnant and that Katy might not get to see the baby was terrifying,” said mom Paula. “Katy loves Scarlet, and seems to have a special way with her. All we have to do is put Scarlet in her arms and she starts smiling.”

Even though doctors were ok with the induction, not everyone agrees it was the right move, as prematurity can lead to complications.

As for Katy, who's been given between six and nine months to live, she hasn't been told her condition is terminal.

Family, friends and fellow students have been fundraising to tick off some of Katy's wish list items, including a husky dog sleigh ride and seeing The Lion King in London.

Do you think the family made the right call to jeopardize their baby's life by inducing her, and keeping Katy in the dark about her illness?

Nudist Spotted in Children's Swim Ad

Nudist Spotted in Children's Swim Ad

Oopsie. It's advertising's version of a streaker at half-time. When the French retailer La Redoute published a promo ad for children’s swimwear, little did they know a nude man was innocently strolling in the background.

Call it a European beach hazard. Although the nudist is barely noticeable at first, his genitals were on show for at least 16 hours, according to Le Figaro, before it was pulled.

“La Redoute apologizes for the photograph published on its site and is taking steps to remove it,” the company tweeted, although I'm sure French moms out there didn't mind the slip, assuming their eyes alone were feasting on the R-rated ads.

The nudist proved a refreshing change from intentionally sexualized advertising. The only thing left to ask is, where can we find this beach...

First Pic of Beyonce and Jay-Z's Baby Girl!

99 Problems, but Blue Ain't One

First Pic of Beyonce and Jay-Z's Baby Girl!

Well, there's your answer, all you doubting Thomases out there: Beyoncé and Jay-Z now go by the name Mom and Dad!

The singer whose 'bump' was purported to be a fake, gave birth to a baby girl named Blue Ivy Carter in New York this weekend, according to her hometown paper, the Houston Chronicle. 30-year-old Beyoncé gave birth more than a month early, though it wasn't clear at the time of writing whether she was booked in for a C-section or whether babe arrived prematurely.

"The most beautiful girl in the world," tweeted Beyoncé's sister, Solange Knowles, who is admittedly, a little biased.

Of course Twitter was awash in A-list well wishes, from the likes of 'Aunty Rih' (Rihanna) and Gwynie who claimed, "We love you already."  Another tweep, Liam McKenna, had fun Photoshopping little Blue.

Blue may be just a couple days old, but a Boston-based event planning company with the same name is getting a taste of the fame and attention that awaits her.  Blue Ivy has been flooded with calls, texts, etc.

"Clearly great minds think alike," says Blue Ivy owner Veronica Alexandra, who claims she'd LOVE to plan all of the little girl's milestone parties, and even quipped that she should be the "face of the company." Somehow I doubt that would fly.

Congrats to the power couple, and welcome Blue. I'm sure -- even with a name like that -- your life will be anything but.
