The loose cords of the lamps pose a strangulation hazard, and led to the death of a 16-month-old child who became entangled in the cord whilst in a crib. A similar incident happened to a 15 month old, also in Europe, yet did not prove fatal.

Though there have been no incidents reported in Canada, customers are advised to immediate remove the lamps and return them to any IKEA store in Canada, or call IKEA for a free repair kit.

For further information, customers may contact IKEA toll-free at 1-800-661-9807 or via the company's website.

From July 1999 to May 2013, approximately 1,100,000 of the lamps have been sold at IKEA in Canada, and around 2,900,000 in the United States.

Little Girl Signs For Deaf Parents During School Concert

The Real Mccoy

Little Girl Signs For Deaf Parents During School Concert

girl signing at concert for deaf parents

Have you heard about that sign interpreter? No, no... Not the one at Nelson Mandela's memorial, who practically made it up as he went along. I mean this little rock star right here, who signed her way through various Christmas carols at her kindergarten concert so her deaf parents wouldn't miss a beat.

Needless to say, mom Lori Koch was insanely proud of her daughter. Seriously. My kindergartener can sign exactly two words—'cat' and 'dog'—so it boggles the mind to see this little girl signing this fluidly.

Check out her gorgeous and kooky performance, courtesy of Gawker. If this video doesn't give you warm fuzzies on this grinchy winter's day, nothing will.

As for blondie... I expect the UN will be banging down her door before her next birthday rolls around. It's so hard to find a good interpreter these days!

What You Stand To Learn From A Man In A Pink Tutu

Laughing in the face of tragedy

What You Stand To Learn From A Man In A Pink Tutu

When life give you lemons, if you're Bob Carey, you make lemonade. Pink lemonade, no less. Intent on keeping the smile on his wife Linda's face after she was diagnosed with breast cancer, the photographer began shooting pictures of himself wearing nothing but a pink tutu.

“When Linda would go in for treatment, she would take the images on her phone and the women would look at them and it would make them laugh and make the time pass,” said Bob Carey in an article in Elite Daily.

After his tutu project caught on, Bob began seeking out the most random and funny settings—from snowy climes all the way to Italy and everywhere in between—for his next shoot.

“Oddly enough, her cancer has taught us that life is good, dealing with it can be hard, and sometimes the very best thing—no, the only thing—we can do to face another day is to laugh at ourselves, and share a laugh with others,” he said.

A compilation of his images has been made into a book called Ballerina, the proceeds of which will go directly to breast cancer organizations.

He's not the only one putting on a brave face during bleak days. See how this woman cheered herself up right before undergoing a mastectomy.

Do you use humour to cope in trying times?
