RECALL: IKEA SULTAN Crib Mattresses

IKEA_crib_mattress_recall

Health Canada has recalled the following models of IKEA SULTAN crib mattresses with a manufacturer date of August 2010 or earlier:

Model - Article Number

  • BLUNDA - 90031059
  • DRÖMMA - 82034
  • SNARKA - 40098938
  • SUSSA - 60099461

In some cases, the SULTAN crib mattresses have a gap greater than 3 cm, posing an entrapment hazard for an infant.

While neither Health Canada nor IKEA Canada has received any reports of incidents regarding the mattresses, one customer in the US notified the company of a gap between the end of the crib and the mattress.

Customers are advised to measure the gap between affected crib mattresses and the side and end of the crib, and to immediate stop using the mattress if the gap is greater than 3 cm. The mattress should be returned to any IKEA store for an exchange or a full refund.

Please note that new mattresses should be allowed to "air" for 72 hours after unpacking since it takes a few days for a mattress to assume its full shape and volume. All bedding should also be removed to an ensure an accurate measurement.

For further information, customers can contact IKEA Canada toll-free at 1-800-661-9807 or via IKEA's website.

Between 2007 and 2010 in Canada, approximately 44,373 SULTAN crib mattresses were sold at IKEA stores across Canada and online.
