Are you guilty of changing the names of meal items in order to get your kids to eat their dinner? I know I am. Homemade Macaroni and Cheese becomes “cheesy pasta” and parmesan cheese becomes “shakey-shake” (because you get to shake it!) and then of course there are these Minecraft Pork Chops. This Meat-Lovers Pizza Skillet Pasta is kind of the same thing. Sure it has all the makings of an AWESOME pizza but in reality it’s pasta, cheese and meat sauce but throw the word “pizza” in there and all of a sudden my kids think I’m some kind of dinner-time genius. Here’s how you can be too!
Simply sauté your beef and peppers.
Add your pepperoni.
Mix in your sauce.
Add cooked pasta.
Add cheese.
Combine.
Serve.
Top with more cheese and voila – Meat Lovers Pizza Pasta!
Ingredients:
1 box pasta (a short kind like bow tie or fusilli is best)
1 tbsp. olive oil
½ red pepper, sliced
1 ½ lbs ground beef (I use extra lean)
10-15 slices of pepperoni (the small round kind), quartered (I use kitchen scissors)
1 jar tomato sauce (approx. 700mL)
½ cup pizza sauce (I just throw in a small store-bought can)
2 cups mozzarella cheese, shredded
Parmesan Cheese for topping
Directions:
Cook pasta according to package directions.
Meanwhile, in skillet heat oil over medium-high heat.
Add peppers and ground beef and sauté until beef is cooked through.
Add pepperoni and sauté 1-2 more minutes.
Reduce heat, add tomato sauce and pizza sauce, stir to combine.
Add cooked and drained pasta, and stir to combine.
Add mozzarella cheese and stir until cheese is melted.
Serve, top with parmesan cheese and enjoy!
