Expanded Recall: Learning Curve VIA Infant Car Seats

Health Canada has expanded the December 19, 2014 recall of the VIA I470C model child restraints on various Learning Curve infant car seats. (See sticker on the back of the seat for product details.)

The following infant car seats are included in this recall:

Model number - Item number - Brand Name - Manufacture date

  • VIA I470C - Y11228C - The First Years - VIA Infant Car Seat - 1470C - May 10, 2011
  • VIA I470C - Y11248C - The First Years - T230 c Wisp Elegance - March 9, 2011, April 20, 2011

Please note that only car seats are affected, not the strollers that form part of the "Lamaze" and "First Years" travel systems.

Transport Canada found that the above restraints do not meet the regulatory head and chest injury limits. During simulated crash testing, these belts may slacken, posing potential injury to infants and other passengers in the vehicle.

No incidents have been reported to Learning Curve or Health Canada.

Customers with affected seats should immediately stop using and dispose of the seats according to municipal guidelines, guaranteeing that no one else will use them. Customers can visit Learning Curve's website for further information.

From June 2011 to March 2014, approximately 6,117 of the car seats were sold in Canada.

A Wedding Proposal to End All Wedding Proposals

Brought to you by the Lovers association of the world, inc.

A Wedding Proposal to End All Wedding Proposals

Whoever thinks that love is dead or romance isn't cool clearly hasn't watched this video. The name Yannick Martin will forever be synonymous with both, after his unique and heart-mushing proposal to his girlfriend in a movie theatre.

(Of course, that's how most women of the world will feel. Some guys, on the other hand, may curse Martin to eternity for raising the "Will You Marry Me"  bar to staggering heights.)

"I wanted to propose to Bérénice and I always dreamt of making it big," said Montrealer, Martin. "Bérénice loves animation so I decided that it would be really fun to go to the movies."

How Robin Williams Made a Prom Dream Come True

And by "big" and "fun" Martin means penning a storyline and hiring an animation studio, Zabelle Inc, to create a customized movie trailer that has all the elements of the perfect love story, then finding a crew to film her reaction and a movie theatre that would agree to air it.

Fortunately for Martin, he pulled it all off and his plan went swimmingly. And I'm sure it won't come as a spoiler: She said yes.

My own proposal, which happened slapdash over the phone, was the antithesis of romantic. However my husband made up for that transgression by having a painting I once fell in love with in Ottawa (Canada) freighted all the way to London (England) for my birthday. It's still hanging in my dining room, 15 years later.

You tell me: What's the single-most romantic gesture someone has done for you, proposal or otherwise?

Dad Selling Stroller for "Ruining His Life"

"For just £9.99, you too can screw up your life"

Dad Selling Stroller for "Ruining His Life"

It could well be the most expensive second-hand stroller in the world. The Phil & Teds stroller, aka the "green albatross," has racked up bids in excess of  £150,000 ($282,000) on eBay—and all because a dad-of-three claims the "buggy" ruined his life.

Come again? Yes, the listing in which the British father describes his loathing for the green beast that "signifies everything that ended my happy carefree low-cost child-free life" has been going viral. Trouble is, not everyone sees the funny side.

This Is How You Can Use Your Stroller To Get Fit

In the must-read listing, the dad waxes lyrical about the stroller that cost more than cars and even a house his dad owned once, and now it's high time the albatross goes "round some other poor sods (sic) neck."

Clearly someone out there must appreciate the man's jaded wit because the bids—and the comments—have been rolling in, though the Southhampton-based seller knows there is little hope of it actually selling for such a crazy figure.

At least he's honest: the stroller has, during its lifetime, "had pretty much every bodily fluid known to science, (and several that have yet to be discovered) chucked over it by my children. It's also absorbed its own weight in Ellas Kitchen meals, and mud" and is probably as comfortable as a Model T Ford.

For a starting price of "just £9.99 you too can screw up your life," vows the sardonic seller, who claims he will use the money to "recover" from his children in a method that will likely involve drugs and alcohol. With all the extra cash, he's promised to fund a vasectomy for one commenter and to build "a small but modest man cave for me at the bottom of the garden."

Getting The Big Snip? Here's How To Throw A Vasectomy Party

As eBay listings go, I have to say, it's pure genius. Some commenters sincerely hope the man gets his price in exchange for all the smiles he's brought to disaffected dads everywhere.

Everyone else needs to spend a little time abroad (or at the least, with BBC) to familiarize themselves with Brit humour. Like the perfect martini, it's dry -  incredibly dry.
