Student Gets Trapped In Vagina Statue

Between a Rock and a Tight Place

Student Gets Trapped In Vagina Statue

In a headline that's almost too good to be true, an American student who got trapped in a vagina sculpture in Germany was spectacularly rescued.

According to an article in the Guardian, it took no fewer than 22 firefighters to extricate the tourist who became trapped inside Tübingen's vagina sculpture, known as The Chacán-Pi or "Making Love," outside of the city's university.

The statue was erected (sorry) in 2001, and has since attracted lots of juvenile attention. But few intrepid explorers have ventured inside the 32-ton marble sculpture, which, according to Peruvian artist Fernando de la Jara, symbolizes "the gateway to the world."

The birth was, shall we say, unassisted, as firefighters delivered the student "by hand." (Seriously, I could do this all day!)

Definitely one to tell the grandkids . . . or not.

This creepy campus statue gave students cause to protest.

Should You Worry About Weight Gain During Pregnancy?

If we look and feel healthy, can't we give ourselves a break?

Should You Worry About Weight Gain During Pregnancy?

pregnancy weight gain

One of the perks of being pregnant is pigging out with impunity. But should we really be 'eating for two'? In a blog on Today, host Savannah Guthrie worried about surpassing the recommended 25-30lbs gain 30 weeks into her pregnancy.

Mercifully, her OB/GYN's reaction was all, "You're pregnant. Don't worry about it." Yet some medical practitioners go by the book, and launch into lecture-mode on patients who exceed the weight guidelines.

"I know we shouldn't pile on the pounds during pregnancy," said Guthrie. "It isn't healthy, and we don't want to dig a weight gain hole so deep we can't Jazzercise our way out of it. But let's keep it in perspective. It is just a recommendation. If we look and feel healthy, can't we give ourselves a break?"

Some doctors are like watchdogs, tracking gain in the first trimester, while others turn a blind eye. My own midwife had a pretty lackadaisical attitude toward my weight gain. In hindsight, I'd have preferred she had been more insistent about the number on the scale: I went on to gain a whopping 50lbs!

Spill it: How much weight did you pack on while pregnant?

Are doctors right to caution pregnant women about weight gain, or is the number on the scale ultimately irrelevant, provided they are healthy?

This pregnant woman's diet furrowed a few brows.

Woman Who Stopped On Highway For Ducks Convicted

Emma Czornobaj faces up to 14 years in jail

Woman Who Stopped On Highway For Ducks Convicted

Have you heard? The woman who stopped for ducks was convicted of criminal negligence. When 25-year-old Emma Czornobaj stopped her car on a highway near Montreal to save a family of crossing ducks, little did she know her actions would result in two fatalities.

According to an article in the Toronto Sun, 50-year-old Andre Roy was riding his Harley-Davidson with his 16-year-old daughter Jessie when it smashed into Czornobaj's Honda Civic in 2010.

The jury found Czornobaj guilty of negligence for parking her car in the left lane of Highway 30 while she crouched to assist a group of eight ducks.

With just three years' driving experience, Czornobaj failed to put on her hazard lights, yet it was also found that the motorcyclist was speeding at between 113 km/h and 129 km/h.

A dangerous driving charge could result in a 14-year sentence for Czornobaj.

What do you think of the conviction that has Canadians divided?

After a fatal crash, this motorist did the unthinkable.
