Striking Eyes Step by Step
Well groomed brows create the look.
There is a magic V shape for all brows and when aligned, they will create a bold effect that commands attention. Imagine a line running vertically from the outside edge of the nose up to the brow - this where the brow should start for a clean a sculpted look. Next, imagine a 45 degree angled line from the same starting point connected with the outer corner of the eye - this is the end point for the brow. The arch of the brow should line up with the far outer edge of the iris.
Metallics shine so place them carefully.
Apply a bold metallic across the horizontal of the eyelid being careful not to go above the mobile lid. Make sure the intensity of the application is even from all viewpoints. Next, line the eye with a deep coloured pencil - black is a good choice here - focus on the outer rims. Lastly, use a lighter tone of metallic shadow to create reflection in the inner corner of the eye.
Mascara is a must.
Finally layer black mascara to create the full effect. Use a generous amount but be careful to avoid clumping.

The newest addition, to the EL range is the Even Skintone Illuminator and it is getting mostly positive reviews from most sources. Keep in mind is that EL owns dozens of cosmetics companies and often, with a little searching, you can find very similar products at varying price points. EL claims this product will remove hyper pigmentation, sunspots, redness and correct the overall tone of the skin.
Estee Lauder Idealist Even Skintone Illuminator ($72.50 for 30mL & $100 for 50mL)
A well formulated product with proven skin lightening ingredients. This product combines both the benefits of skincare and make up creating a great finish that is not sparkly but highly reflective on the skin. The “instant” illumination is from mica particles and not from any skincare ingredients. This can also serve as a lightweight moisturizer for oily skin types.
Pros
1. Excellent blend of skin lightening ingredients including BHA and dimethoxytolyl propylresorcinol.
2. Great water binding agents including hyaluronic acid, squalane and NMF’s.
3. Mild exfoliation with Vitamin C blended with Vitamin E for skin conditioning.
Cons
1. Fragrance added to the formula which can irritate
2. Heavy concentration of irritating plant oils
3. Stimulating caffeine added which can increase redness in the skin
Overall
The right ingredients have been included in the formula for the claims to be met. For some people this formula could be irritating but for the most consumers this is a good choice. Expensive when compared to similar formulas so shop around.
Less expensive option: Estee Lauder owned Clinique Even Better Dark Spot Corrector ($63 for 30mL & $93 for 50mL) is almost the exact same formula without the fragrances and mL for mL is 7% to 13% less expensive.
