As if vanity sizing hadn't already reached ridiculous proportions, J.Crew has gone and introduced an even smaller size for women to aim for—the 000.
According to an article in Jezebel, the retailer claims it has launched the new size in order to meet a growing demand from the (more petite) Asian market.
Jezebel equates vanity sizing to "the misguided notion that you need to lie to women in order to sell clothing."
The YMC crew was simply mystified by a change that will no doubt make shopping that much more confusing—not to mention time-consuming—for women who never know what size they actually are.
The discrepancy in sizing across various retailers points to the more pressing need for standardized sizing based on actual measurements rather than some arbitrary number dreamed up by the retailer.

Read it and weep, ladies. It seems a mini-Gosling is on the way. Hollywood glitterati Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes have confirmed they are expecting a child together.
An article in People has confirmed that she is, in fact, pregnant. Mendes shot down baby rumours when she appeared on Ellen in February (“It all started because I didn’t want to go through the scanners at the airport”), yet it's telling that the 40-year-old actress hasn't been photographed in public since March.
The baby will be the first for both actors, who began dating in 2011 and recently starred together in 33-year-old Gosling’s directorial debut, Lost River.
Mendes previously admitted she had no plans to marry or start a family. But who can blame her for the change of heart?
The baby is due in October. Let's hope the Goslings fare better at parenting than the characters they played in their 2012 movie, The Place Beyond the Pines.

To Griffin, who has autism, Bublé's music is a key to an otherwise locked door.
"Music is how Griffin relates to the world and in those difficult moments when his senses are overloaded by his environment, music is what grounds him and gives him peace," Griffin's mom told Autism Speaks. "It lights a fire in him and engages his curiosity."
When Griffin's family reached out to Mr. Bublé to let him know the impact that his music has on the boy's life, something kind of beautiful happened.
