Cityline Fun With The Girls

Cityline Up Close and Personal

Cityline Fun With The Girls

I have been a huge fan of Cityline for ages {and not just because I want to be on it someday}. It’s fun, it’s fresh and full of inspiration.

I have wanted to go to a taping forever so I was so excited when my new friend, Leigh-Ann Allaire Perrault invited a few bloggers {including me} to be a part of the audience recently. It was so much fun to see the show live

Leigh-Ann scouted out some pieces from Moveline Liquidations, a showroom selling furniture from large hotels. Using her mad design skills, Leigh-Ann transformed the pieces with some paint and fabric. Just wait until you see what she did with the frames!

Don’t you think the chair would look perfect in my new kitchen?

Two of my favourite {and handsome} bald men were also on, Massimo Capra and Brian Baeumler. Ceri Marsh and Laura Keogh from Sweet Potato Chronicles were there sharing great recipes for the whole family. It was so much fun and I can’t wait to go back.

Here are some of my favourite pieces from Moveline Liquidations. With a fresh coat of paint and some new hardware these pieces would be pretty fantastic!

Check out the episode Monday, January 10th at 9:00 and watch for my gorgeous blogger friends, Christine {@bijouandboheme}, Christine {@glamamama} and Ana {@secondwindana} and me too!

Dream Big or Go Home

My dreams for 2011

Dream Big or Go Home

I have never been one to make resolutions but I have always been a big dreamer so I thought it would be fun to make a list of all of the posts I dream of writing in 2011.

I got a tad carried away.....

-to observe, or take part in, the styling of a space for a photo shoot for one of my two favourite magazines, Style at Home or House and Home

-write about my amazing experience doing a segment about decor on national television. This is one I am setting as more than a dream. I am making it a goal. Even though I am not a designer or a decorator, I just know I would be good at it. I can talk decor, trends, DIY with the best of them. It’s not like there are that many fabulous people out there already doing it. Crap. There are a lot of fabulous people out there doing it. There is always room for more fabulous, though. Right?

-an interview with my design crush, Sarah Richardson

-create several vlogs to share some fun and stylish DIY projects {this is one of the few I may actually be able to accomplish in 2011}

-write a daily diary about my fabulous shopping adventure in Europe with Kimberley Seldon on her Design Express trip to Prague, Vienna and Budapest. Sigh. Europe. Shopping. With Kimberley. I really wish this one would come true!

-write a review of a world class tropical resort....I know I am really dreaming here, but I would need a holiday after writing all of these other posts. Don't you think?

What would your dream post{s} be for 2011? I’d love to know.

Interview With Genevieve Gorder

Genevieve is helping people see the potential in their home

Interview With Genevieve Gorder

I recently had the exciting opportunity to interview the talented and adorable Genevieve Gorder, from the HGTV show, Dear Genevieve. I learned two things: 10 minutes is not as long as you’d think and conducting an interview with your toddlers in the room is not the wisest decision.

I also learned that Genevieve is just as sweet and friendly as you’d expect.

Dear Genevieve, which returns for it’s fourth season on January 4th, is a show about helping people rediscover love for their home. Genevieve guides homeowners through the process of reinventing their space. I love that Genevieve really listens to the homeowners when coming up with a design plan. The space is always beautifully transformed in a way that suites the homeowners’ style.

I asked Genevieve why people find it so difficult to make decisions on their own when it comes to decorating. She pointed out that many are fearful of making a mistake. People tend to approach design as if it’s a science. She says it’s not black and white; it’s an emotional process. I totally agree, even though I can relate to the fear of making a mistake.

If you are looking to fall back into love with your home, Genevieve suggests clearing out a space and starting from scratch. Bring back only what is meaningful. You don’t have to buy new things to make your space beautiful, just use what you have in new ways.

I will be snuggled up with my cup of tea on Tuesday night to watch the first episode of season four, want to join me?

Dear Genevieve, Season IV
