Tot Found Chewing Condom

Dad in a McFury

Tot Found Chewing Condom

The horror, the horror. Imagine taking your two year old to a McDonalds play area, then finding her munching on a soggy-looking condom.

Well, that's what recently happened to a dad in Western Australia. He said he was "disgusted" to find his daughter emerging from the play area with what appeared to be a used condom in her mouth.

Fortunately a group of local schoolgirls then came forward and admitted their prank: they'd filled a condom with ice cream and left it inside the play area.

"The students have apologized, expressing remorse for their actions and the distress caused to the family involved," said a spokesperson for McDonalds.

The dad certainly was distressed. He reportedly washed out the little girl's hands and mouth with soap and continues to monitor her health.

I hope he had the decency to buy her a sundae afterwards.

Russell Brand Refused Clearance

Blame Canada

Russell Brand Refused Clearance

36-year-old British comedian, Russell Brand, made waves on the internet after tweeting that he was denied entry into Canada.

The Arthur actor told fans via Twitter that he'd have to postpone his show at Casino Rama in Orillia, north of Toronto, because Canada Customs had turned him away.

“I'm sorry. I can't enter Canada. We must abolish the borders between our nations AND our minds,” he posted.

The rumour went viral in no time. But turns out, Brand was just joshing us. The real delay was down to problems with his private jet.

Oh, well then. In fact, it wouldn't have been the first time the performer is turned away from customs.

In May, Brand, the former heroin addict who has a slew of prior criminal convictions, was deported from Japan while visiting his pop singer wife Katy Perry on her Asian tour.

In the past, he's been charged with criminal damage and indecent exposure after stripping for May Day protests. He's also been arrested for allegedly attacking a photographer.

Will you or won't you grace us with your presence, Russell?

The Beast of B.C., Clifford Olson Dead

A Legacy of Anguish

The Beast of B.C., Clifford Olson Dead

One of Canada's most notorious serial killers, Clifford Olson, is dead at 71, putting an end to a legacy of anguish for the families of his victims.

For Terry Bizeau, mother of Terri Lyn Carson, who was murdered at 15, the relief was overwhelming.

"How can you put feelings into words," Bizeau told the Star. "Justice has finally been done... If they cremate him, I hope they flush his ashes in the toilet." Only now through Olson's death, like so many families of the victims, is she able to gain closure.

Olson had served nearly 30 years of 11 consecutive life sentences for torturing, sexually assaulting and murdering eight girls and three boys in British Columbia the early 1980s. But even prison didn't stop him from amassing wealth.

At the time of his arrest in 1982, Olson brokered a deal -- for a staggering $100,000 -- to reveal where he had buried his victims' bodies. The money was left in trust for his son and estranged wife. He also sold his possessions on an auction website, and traded drugs illegally while incarcerated.

Throughout his 'career' as a criminal, he racked up 83 convictions and was never far from the limelight for all the wrong reasons.

"The first 17 years, he was in the news every month, like clockwork," recalled Raymond King, father of 15-year-old Raymond Jr. "It was really impossible to heal... [Now] the thorns' out of my side and it's going to heal."

Next of kin for Olson are currently being sought. If no one claims his body, officials vow that he will be buried in an undisclosed location, and there will be no ceremony or memorials.
