Shop Till You Drop! Black Friday! Deals! 50% off! Cyber Monday! Must! Buy! All! The Things! Okay, so the truth is, I did some on-line shopping, and I did some in-store shopping, because well, the deals were too good to pass on, even here in Canada. And even though some of the shopping wasn't for me, "Giving Tuesday" has a nicer ring to it than "Black Friday" don't you think?
This is the season for giving, after all, and this time of year, nothing makes me happier than giving and teaching my children the importance of giving.
My love affair with Tiffany & Co. started around the time I saw Breakfast At Tiffany's. I love Audrey Hepburn, I love this classic movie, and I love Tiffany's! A lot.
Are you freaking out yet? It's already November and Christmas is only six weeks away! I'm not stressed, though. I'm just in the festive mood. And I'm okay with listening to holiday music already. Yup, I'm even ready to put up the Christmas tree and start wrapping presents. Oh, but first, I guess I have to go shopping.
The closets have been re-organized, the flip flops have been put away, and the baskets of winter gear have been brought up and placed in our hallway closet.
Yes, the transition from warm summer days to cold winter days has taken place. There is nothing I can do but put on my most stylish hat and grin and bear it. Winter is not my favourite season, but living in Canada, we have to learn to enjoy it. However, skating, skiing, and crisp walks in the freshly fallen snow can only be enjoyed if we're dressed for it.
I remember crying on my 24th birthday. Not tears of sadness, but tears of happiness because my parents bought me the Fendi purse I had been coveting for months. It was a purse I wanted for a long time, a purse I kept talking about (I probably drove my parents nuts, now that I think about it...) and a purse I used every single day, until it was replaced with another beloved handbag, years later.
It's never too early to start your holiday shopping, right? Well, maybe it's a little too early, since it is still October, but I know some people (hi, mom!) who are practically done their Christmas shopping already.
However, it's not too early to start writing out those shopping lists so you can make sure everyone you're buying for this year has the perfect gift to open during the holidays!
Every week, I go to my favourite hair salon for a blowout. Yes, I like to treat myself, because trying to manage my own hair is very time consuming and trying to blow-dry my hair can take up to two hours. Of course, I have an old blow-dryer that I bought many, many years ago, which means it doesn't have much power. Perhaps that's my first problem, right there...
As you know, October is Breast Cancer Awareness month. So many of us know someone we love who has been affected by this disease, and so many of us do amazing things to raise funds and awareness for this most worthwhile cause, like my fellow YMC team.
I love fall (but not as much as summer) because it means I can shop, guilt-free, for the things I need. Of course, with every new season, I feel like I have NOTHING to wear until I take full stock of the things that are already hanging (some, still with tags attached) in my closet.
The Emmy Awards 2012 hit the stage last night and it's the one awards show I love to watch because I actually do watch a lot of TV
Mad Men had the most nominations this year and that comes as no surprise to me since I am completely and totally in love with Mad Men. I'd say it's currently my most favourite show, and if you're not watching yet, what's wrong with you, and get on that, will you? Seriously, you will not be disappointed to make Don Draper a part of your television watching routine.
I consider myself a shopping expert. Professional shopper, if you will.
You see, I have a lot of experience in the area, because I spend a lot of time shopping. When I lived in Washington, D.C. certain stores in Georgetown would invite me into the back area to shop from items that had just arrived. I am still apologizing to this day to my parents for the maxed-out credit card situation I often found myself in, but I digress...
A brand new department store has opened in Ottawa—no, not Nordstrom, yet—that's a whole other blog post of excitement and squees and OMG! FINALLY! But for now? I'm talking about the new terra20 store that took over where the old IKEA used to be in Ottawa's west end.
As much as I love summer and hot, sunny days spent around the pool wearing nothing more than a bikini and flip flops, I'm noticing that the mornings are cooler and the nights aren't as hot as they were a few weeks ago. It is time to say good-bye (sniff, sniff) to summer, and hello to fall. I'm okay with that, for the most part.
Fall is my second most favourite season of all, because hello... it's the perfect time go shopping!
I often get emails after I write my beauty related posts asking me questions about certain products that I'd recommend and what products I truly love.
Rather than answer each question individually, I thought it would be a great idea to answer these questions right here on my shopping blog, so that everyone can read the questions and answers.
I can't believe it is mid-July already. Summer is going by really fast, and that makes me sad. I wish I could just press pause, because so far, it's been an incredible summer, and I don't want it to end. I'll take this heat wave over the cold and snow any day of the year!
It's my happy place. It's the place I go to, year after year, to get away from it all. It's a brief escape from my reality of housework, homework, and work-work, and it's basically my paradise.
I love shopping for make-up and beauty products. I could spend countless hours in Murale or Sephora, or at the make-up counters in Nordstrom, Saks, or The Bay.
