Weekday Breakfast Made Easy

Weekday mornings are hectic for moms, so I'm a huge fan of doing whatever I can to make things easier as we get ready to head out the door. I borrowed one of the best tricks I've found from my own mom, who spent years getting four kids where they needed to go each morning fed, dressed—and miraculoulsy—on time. This tip is perfect for small children that are starting to get ready independently but could still use a little help. 

Before you go to bed each night, fill a bowl with your child's favourite cereal and put it at their place on the table along with a spoon.

Next, fill a small plastic cup with milk, and place it on a low shelf in the fridge. You could also add a bowl of your child's favourite fruit (apple slices, grapes, strawberries, a peeled orange) and place it in the fridge alongside the milk. 

In the morning, when your kid(s) wake up, they can get the milk, dump it into their cereal, and begin eating on their own, leaving you with one less thing to worry about! 

This also works on the weekend to help buy you a few more precious minutes of sleep.
